The procedure
Your treatment will take approximately 45-60 minutes, depending on the areas you wish to treat. Laser Genesis is both a suitable procedure to undergo to achieve an instant resurfacing glow as preparation for a special occasion, or predomantly undertaken as part of a series of treatments on a regular basis will see long term improvements in the appearance and health of your skin.
Laser Genesis is suitable for all skin types and Fitzpatrick levels for both Male and Females.
As the handheld laser device moves back and forth across the skin surface, it leaves a sensation of warm rain drops falling onto the skin as it heats the dermis below the surface.
Laser Genesis is a non-ablative Nd:YAG laser that uses heat to kill bacteria on and under the skin, preventing future acne outbreaks. The heat also penetrates deep enough into the skin, to stimulate the natural production of collagen, which shrinks pores, evens skin tones, and increases the speed of cell turn over, it is this process that allows Laser Genesis to help in the treatment of such a wide range of conditions.
Laser Genesis does require multiple treatments for optimal results, with a healthy minimum being three sessions, two or so weeks apart. Depending on the desired results, 4 – 12 treatments may be recommended as part of your treatment journey.
It is crucial that you follow your aftercare instructions to ensure optimal healing and to achieve the best results following your treatment.

To ensure you achieve the best results, we recommend the following to our patients;
- Do not use active skincare 24-48hrs prior to your Laser Genesis treatment.
- No sun-tanning or self-tanners 2-4 weeks prior to treatment (includes spray tans, tanning lotions, tanning beds, sun exposure, etc.)
- Some medications or supplements may increase the risk of bruising. Consult your physician.
- Avoid treatments that may irritate the skin for 1-2 weeks prior to treatment (waxing, depilatories, etc.)
- Notify the clinician of any changes to your health history or medications since your last appointment.
- History of herpes or cold sores may require an anti-viral prescription prior to treatment.
Aftercare
To ensure optimal, long-lasting results, we recommend that patients follow our post-treatment advice. Aftercare for a Laser Genesis is minimal but still very important. Patients should do the following:
- Avoid direct sun exposure for 24 – 48 hours.
- Ensure you wear a high-SPF 30 or 50+ broad spectrum (UVA/UVB) sunscreen for the next few days following your treatment.
- You may experience some bruising, redness and swelling is common and with resolve with time.
- Avoid activities that cause excess heat and sweating like exercise, hot tub or a sauna session.
- Avoid using skin care products that contain active ingredients for 24-48 hours – Discuss with your clinician. (Products containing Tretinoin, Retinol, Benzoyl peroxide, Glycolic/Salicylic acids, Astringents, etc.)
